This Barossa Valley Shiraz is sourced from Margaret and Peter Lehmann’s Horse Paddock vineyard on Stelzer Road in the heart of Stonewell region of the Barossa Valley.
Cool conditions during spring and early summer lead to delayed budburst (late October) and flowering (early December). The weather continued to hamper the growing season during summer. Torrential rain and high humidity promoted strong vegetative growth and high disease pressure.
Despite the grim growing season meticulous attention to detail and sorting trays allowed some elegant-styled wines to be made.
With a crimson and magenta hue, the wine has a floral nose of violets, blue & black berry fruits with rich chocolate and black licorice notes. On the palate the 2011 Barossa Valley Shiraz has rich blackberry fruit, dark chocolate and black licorice, hints of spice and vanilla pod fill a rich palate, backed by firm tannins and oak.
